    ranunculus and friend

I have been a bit out of the photo loop for the past several weeks; family issues to resolve. But, I took sometime today to visit the ranunculus fields and came away with this. I hope to get back on the saddle in a few weeks.

CF - Welcome back. This is super, super sharp!! Very impressive. Don't know the lens or exposure details but it sure worked.

I like the flower and the two background flowers too. The bug adds a nice twist. The shape of it is a bit unusual, looks very ball-ish. Anyway, post more

    Re: ranunculus and friend

    Thanks, GB.

I have been off line for several weeks tending to my father who is dealing with some critical health issues. I don't know where all this is heading in the immediate future, but I keep the camera close regardless.

Thanks for the kind words on this shot. I had hoped by showing the three "buds", one in full bloom, one just beginning to open, and the third still tightly closed there would be some symetry and progression. The lady bug was a lucky catch and was not sure whether to keep it. But, I think it adds something. Not sure what, but something.

    Thanks again.

    Re: ranunculus and friend

Very nice, and as was said, very sharp.

My thoughts: Holy Cow! fields of Ranunculus!? I can't imagine what that looks like. We only see them as rather expensive annuals here in the northern Midwwest.

I don't think the ladybug does anything for the picture. You already have a well thought out, and nicely balanced composition.

To me, the ladybug (and the other smaller fly looking insect below it) are distractions. I think if you "macroed" the ladybug on the one flower it would be OK.

    Nice work.

Any chance of seeing the whole field of these beauties?

CF - Good luck to your dad... My parents are starting to reach the upper numbers too, but are doing fine health wise.

I think the ladybug is fine but I think I would like it better if it were lower on the flower. I'm still struck by how strong and geometric this flower looks. It could probably handle a hurricane.

CF........hope your father gets back to good health, and all these issues go away.

As for the flower, I'm impressed by the depth of the Ranunculus in full bloom. The many levels of petals really stand out. Well done.
