Rainy Day Boredom - A few from today

It was pretty nasty out this morning so I looked around the house and tried my hand at a still life. Then the weather broke a bit and I went for a short drive. These are a few of my efforts. All C&C are welcomed and appreciated.

I like the second. I like the soft like and the colors overall. The strawberries might be a bit too saturated/bright...just might be a tiny bit...not sure. I'd like to see more room on the left and the top. And some may have something to say about the cropped strawberry.

Joe - I'm a little surprised that you didn't get more feedback on this post. I like the "rainy day" lighting on the flowers, # 1, it really reminds me of a rainy day (of yesteryear, since you hardly ever see a rainy day in S Cali ). I think it and the strawberry image are both good but both need a little more DOF, esp the strawberries (but watch that background). If you have to bump up the SS to do so, I think that's OK so long as you get the proper DOF there (and the flower is so close). The last one doesn't appeal to me but the 3rd has potential, I just want to see the more of the green behind it so to 'place' the stump (and show some of the misty lighting). Thank you both for your C&C. I never realized just how hard it is to do a really nice still life study. Lots of details to be seen and thought out. Totally agree about the dof on the berries... Way too shallow. Next time I'll bust out the tripod. The tree bark is actually a live tree and I was going for a kind of abstract but they always seem to look better in my mind before I take the shot. Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated.
