So what was your idea when you took this image? What am I to look for?

Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.

Looks a little underexposed on my monitor *(~1 stop)

Great shadows and composition. Good shutter speed and focus.

I dunno, Maybe the sun glistening off the pipe, the raindrops in action, or the sky behind it.

    Pick your favorite.

But yeah, lemme check the shutter speed on it, I think it was like 300.

    Shutter Speed 1/500
    ISO 200

It's a strange shot. I like the idea of capturing falling water, but they're a little small in the photo .... almost can't see them. Perhaps you could have gotten more under them (just off to the side) for more perspective. The shot is under-exposed a little.

i agree with yuck looks a little under exposed on my monitor as well. i like the focus you got but the shot really doesn't do anything for me sorry. maybe if you were closer to the water and on more of an angle aiming up.

closer crop, rotate it, bump the curves to make the water pop out. you need to PP this one.

Rotate it? I understand the rest, but why rotate it? Thats the way its supposed to be.

But anyways, I woulda gotten closer, but the wind was like crazy, And I didnt wanna risk my new camera for a picture that might not even turn out that great.

rotate it because skewing the perspective can often turn a dull photo into a somewhat interesting one because the mind becomes puzzled when things dont show up at the same angle that we are used to seeing, at it keeps interest.

Re: Raindrops are fallin on my lens...

Although rotating would give it a different feel, it would require some cropping, and i dont see how this image has enough to allow for rotation, a maximum of about 4-5 degrees maybe...

In any case, my question: Is this what you had in mind?? I simply adjusted the levels on this one, was gonna try for different crops but changed my mind...

Open the image with PS (or any other i think) and Image>Adjustment>Levels (or Cmd+L / Ctrl+L)

Then you will see 3 eyedropper tools, The first is for setting the Black, the 2nd for Grey and 3rd for Whites, I find it best to start with either Black or White, pending which is most available, then if needed i choose the grey, once done, you might need to move the sliders to where they start!

Some open the levels, move the sliders on the histogram to where the graph starts, hit ok, then do the procedure i stated before, I prefer to minimize an PP done, so as to avoid any unnecessary loss of info....

nice concept, but i agree on the Drops, If you were able to zoom a wee bit more, it would have been more effective!
