    no title

I did not want to title this one as it tends to prejudice what the viewer gets from it sometimes.

Very nice Frog. It looks as though the little tombstone is not actually part of a graveyard but seems isolated in the woods. Nice footprints there too.

That is a great subject and a nice angle you shot from. That the headstone is tilted a bit in the image adds to the apparent age of the graveyard and really works well.

Perhaps the image as a whole is just a tad too contrasty-hard to say as snow makes shooting really difficult and a photographer sort of has to choose which poison we are going to go with.

To me the essence of this image is the cross, snow and footprints. The background although it does add a sense of wildness also tends to detract from the essence by being busy. I'm not saying you should but if you did go with a squarer crop by removing from the top you would focus the viewer on to what for me is the essence. Cropping from the top would also reduce the tonal range of the image eliminating some of the contrast issues.
    No, I DON'T need that.

Nice shot Frog. I think you should crop out the lower portion and get rid of the footprint in the lower left. I like the processing as with the last one like this.

    Re: no title

    Thankyou, everyone.
I shot several of this cross marker and all the other shots included other markers until i found this angle....at first i thought the stumps and such in bg would ruin it but then I thought it would give it that isolated feel.
I'm going to play with crops and think from top and/or bottom might work.
If I named it I would call it "Passing by the unknown"

btw I added the footsteps in the snow......thought they'd add some interest......by walking not by editing..lo,l

    Frog,

Really touching photo. I wondered about the dark edge along the top and at first thought it should come off. But, now I think it is pretty important to the depth of the shot. I am not bothered by the background as that depth and color/tonal range adds to the lonely starkness of the grave site. Hard to imagine what this shot would be without the footprints as they are such an important character. I like this. Nice job.

Interesting scene, Frog. the little tombstone looks so removed from a graveyard but it does get the coccasional visitor as indicated in the footsteps. Crop from the top into a square would work to improve i think, but it is efective as it is.
    good work

I think I've seen something like this in the Life magazine or some World War II movie.
