As much as I love the majority of your work, this just doesn't jive for me. Though I think I can understand your concept, it's just too busy for my liking. I think technically, it's great, colors, well exposed, no blur, but the subject just doesn't do it for me.
Jared, I appreciate your honesty. I wouldn't ask for anything else. I'm on the fence on this one. It was raining like crazy, but I felt I just couldn't catch the drama.
I'm trying to figure out if you needed a faster shutter speed or a slower one. I'm thinking slower. I do like the image, but the water is what is bothering me. It seems to be in the middle of whatever it should be.
A slower shutter speed and your camera would have been ruined!!! I'm sure you used an umbrella, right? I really LOVE this!! At first I thought it was just the one rain spout and thought that was cool but looking closer revealed all of those others in a line down the wall. Tim! You're living in a water feature! For a future picture a slower shutter speed would look neat with this (I'm sure you'll get another opportunity!) but not at the risk of your equipment since I'm betting parts and repairs are hard to come by there.
As for this specific image I think as a documentary it's doing a good job of expressing the volume of the rain and the environment of the area but perhaps a better title would have been "Spouts".
