    Railroad Crossing

An interesting shot I got from Skagway, Alaska. Though nothing extremely new or lifechanging, I love this whole rust idea (if you remember my "Nuts and Bolts" featured photo, it was somewhat inspired by this).

    What do you guys think?!

    Thanks,

    Jared

A nice image, Jared. Perhaps cloning out the ?power lines? may help the composition.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

    Mahesh,

I contemplated doing that. But I think it adds an interesting second element. I'll mess around with it again though!

    Thanks for the words,

    Jared

that's a interesting image, and i love the power lines just as jared think that it adds an second interesting element. but i have a feeling of the composion would possiblly be better if the X shape sign's corner are in the middle of the pic's corner

I don't mind the power lines. For me the add a little to the photo. The way the power lines cut up they sky, reminds me of ceiling tiles.

    Hi Jared,
The image has several simple geometric shapes; the overall colour is neutral. I think the brown iron oxide really enhances the overall feeling of the shot. Very nice!

I like it as it is too. I'm an off-center kind of gal. Love symmetry just as long as it's not symmetrical. KWIM?

    Cool shot.

    Re: Railroad Crossing

I kinda like this 'industrial' tone you are playing with. The power lines I believe enhance what would otherwise be an empty and misplaced negative sky.

The crossing sign might be positioned differently as in more symmetrically. It would depend upon what you are trying to do with this image. The rustyness mght come across more if the sign post were less square/straight with the frame, i.e. it leans one way or the other. But that may not be what is the intent.

This might be an area of recognizable items that border on abstract you might want to explore further such as the rusty bridge.

You may have to trust your gut for awhile to see what works and doesn't.

    CDP,

Thanks for the words. I appreciate your views, and though a reshoot is nearly impossible, I will try it with another railroad sign in the near future!

    Thanks,

    Jared

Very nice abstract. The lines and overall monotone in the image contrasts well with the rust highlights.
