I like your shots of DC but this photoshop stuff just misses for me. It draws my attention for a very short time but then it is over and I don't want to go back (shotr attention span I guess).

I think this is cool - at first glance. But I'm with MB1 in that I lose interest quickly. It's a neat trick, but it ends up being kind of one dimensional. That's not to say it's bad, though. I think it's entertaining and I could see it as the foundation for something really strong and meaningful. It needs something else to strengthen the composition and give it meaning. If it were mine, I'd try to add a person to it, somehow. And I'd try to add that person as a completely separate, off-center element. Overall, the whole thing is too balanced. Balance is boring. A figure. off to one side, doing something interesting/scary/threatening....

Think about it.

Tom: I love comic books and sci-fi and this image just reminded me of a book I read once. The "floating city" and the symmetrical geometry idea is the leaping point; where will it crash? Not sure yet.

MB1: I know it's not for everyone and thanks for not holding back your thoughts just because you don't have much interest for this. Your compliment of my D.C. images is much appreciated.

Photo-John: I do pictures for bands and cover art photos as well as background screen visualizations for live music. I thought this and some others I have been kicking around here will make good backgrounds as well as images to travel around in for projections. There are lots of interior fractals and faces that just can't even be realized at this resolution. So I'm glad you mentioned it as a foundation since inevitably that is what these will probably end up being, a background for something else.

Mostly this image was created just to have something to do with a "loser shot", just for fun. Case in point; here is the original picture and a straight ahead image of the cathedral from the same day. I'm just trying to look at things whilst turning them on their head for a minute. I suppose I'm still infatuated with the effect and it will wear off soon. (Geometry is a weird little turn on for me, even if it's centered.) This forum, for me, is about the freedom of experimentation and I am really enjoying it. Thanks for your input!
