    Production shots

    Hi all

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to do the production shots for a local group of churches who were putting on a pretty professional passion play. The production shots were used for advertising, the cover of the dvd of the production, and for souvenirs for the cast and crew.

Here are two of the stills. The first is Nicodemus and the second is Jesus. (actually the guy playing Jesus is a professional actor and had a small part in the Ridley Scott version of Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe).

    Cheers
    Mike

Mike I like them, other than the first guy I think he needs to take his glasses off.

Ha! David (that's his name) is blind as a bat without his specs! One of the problems with amateur productions.

Mike you have photographed these really well; exposure and focus all perfect.
What I think is missing is a bit of drama, lighting or whatever.
At the moment they look like off stage portraits (possibly exactly what they are and are supposed to be). Maybe I'm not understanding your title.

    Re: Production shots

    Hi Tom

Actually they were taken on the stage (which was in a church). The shots were to be used for publicity etc, so are not shots of the actual performance (which took place a week after). Also, with movement, the need to use ambient light, etc, I was really restricted to photographing tableaux (I did it during one of the dress rehearsals).

In short, they were never intended to be photos of the actual performance, but had a different purpose.

I do attach another one though .. one of the scenes.

    Cheers
