The first would make a nice post card shot if done with better light,(morning/evening).
I don't mind that the people are silhouetted but the glare of the sky and water is too much.
A circular polarizer would have helped and the mountains, water, sky would maybe have some detail, color, and lose reflection.
Might be my eyes but the second seems soft and I can't find anything sharp which the hotel should be. Again shooting with better light would help.
It appears you were enjoying a nice vacation.

Thank You for the critique. Yes it was a very nice Canada and Montana vacation trip. This hotel was part of our honeymoon in 1957.
