    Pretty Lady Cyclist & others!

    Hi all

This afternoon my town had a series of criteriums (town centre cycle races) which included some elite races. This image was from the ladies elite race. I got a fair number of shots from afar but I spent some time trying to get a panned shot of a face as they flashed by. This isn't easy! The first image is about the only in-focus one. I quite like it really from a pictorial point of view. What do you think?

I also include two others of the ladies. As always, any comments are appreciated.

    Cheers
    Mike

Re: Pretty Lady Cyclist & others!

Very appropriate as the 2007 Tour de France ends today. (Contador victorious)

The title fits the first photo the best, but I like the solo effort in the second shot. The blase' look on some of the spectators faces is bit unusual; some of them look as they just happened upon the race??

Bike races are not as tough as some sporting events but there's a definite knack to shooting them. I've always shot them from as low an angle as possible or severe overhead. Now getting the appropriate things in focus is a bit trickier, but lots of fun. Having been a rider once upon a time I inherently have a bit of feel for where to be and how to shoot. The third photo and the DOF does emphasize the riders, just a little more lean or a fraction of a second later to acheive more profile would strengthen the image.

    Thanks for sharing.

I like them all Mike. Sharp colors and focus.
