    I like the lighting and expression.

    Crop it square, the entire left of the frame is a distraction and wasted.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Very interesting and I like it. The expression, color range and light all works for me.
    Regarding the crop personally I would not crop it squared as MB mentioned, though I would crop half the dead space on the left, but not squared. In this particular composition the background acts up as an important element..I think it goes well with the rest of the elements and should have some weight in the composition.

    This is a great headshot. I also would not crop. Great use of the classic Rembrandt lighting style.
