    I want to crop the sides and straighten and I wish that lamp wasn't directly above her head.

    The face and hand make the photo, get rid of the rest.

    To me this picture conveys a lot of emotion, but it makes me sad for this lady. I can see where a crop would focus the attention on her, but to me the surroundings help to tell the story.

    I agree with you that the surroundings are an integral part of the story being told with the picture. But, I also agree with MB1 that it could be improved with a little straightening.

    I agree with RS, it's an emotional picture and seems to show a lot of sadness. The emotion is so strong, it makes it an 'artsy' photo. I don't think that technical aspectsare that important here, but try straightening it anyway. I like the shallow depth of field.

    I think its great. Maybe the straighten but I wouldn't have noticed if others hadn't mentioned it.
