It wouldnt be a bad image... but quite frankly the copyright is EXTREMELY intrusive... its hard to give you a legit critique... sorry... it takes away so much from the image that its hard for me to concentrate on the image itself...

A nice looking composition and scene, Roger. I think it would be stronger had the man bending down was upright fishing as well or at least looking off somewhere, but not in the middle of getting something from his gear. still, good shot.
I agree that the water mark is very distracting and certainly hurts the image

Thanks for the comments on the watermark - it didn't look this bad in PS, the resize seems to have brought it up a lot more. Note to self check things before posting - should have learnt this by now:cryin: .

Here is a different version without the blatant water mark.

Orgnoi1 - no problem hope the new version lets you critique.

Gary - The chap was fiddling in the gear for quite a while and I wanted to get to another position before the light became to bright and I had to catch the tide to sail home. The curse of trying to combine sailing and photography - It's a tough life but someone's got to do it  In the end I should have waited here for him to stand up.

Thats better. I like your old watermark. It looks classy as well. I know what you mean about waiting for someone or something to move into a better position. . .it drives me nuts. Sometimes to the point that I get annoyed with them and they have done nothing wrong, lol.
I think it would make a funny reality show to follow a photog around and watch him yell at the old guy " Hey, will you stand up already! I mean, the bag isn't that frigin big that you have to spend half the day looking for somethin in there. . .Jeeez. Stand up already!!
and people wanna know why I carry a bull horn around in my camera gear . . . .

    Definately a ton better...

Now that I can judge the clarity a little easier and such here is what I see or dont see...

I really like the composition of the shot... its a nice subject matter... the whole thing is good, even the fishermen...it kind of would make me want to go visit and relax there... gives you a nice feeling of tranquility...

The only concern I have with the shot is that f/8 doesnt seem to be enough to bring in the details of the background... its not super bad or anything... but maybe a step or two towards f/11 or so would have enhanced it a tidbit.

Overall I would say its a fairly powerful shot in that it brings you to the location without bring there...

Glad you like it and that it gives you that feeling of tranquility and want to visit.

I have one at F20 but didn't like it as the fishermen weren't there and nothing really in the foreground - rushed off to the location I saw the night before, I should have stayed and taken more but time was pressing :mad2:

I have a chainsaw, disc cutter, ladder, this bag is getting too heavy, and now I need a bull horn - I need a bigger bag

The funniest thing is he was still looking in the bag when I was on the way back to the boat - perhaps it was a tardis

I was experimenting with the water marks - need to create a new action in PS.
