Well, you've started well with the self critique which is always important.

My 2cents

1. loose the log - doesn't add anything and actually breaks up the photo.

2. Move forward so the branches on the left and right disappear.

3. Watch for things comming in from above - you have what looks like some dead leaves top left.

4. The trees in the background are over exposed so watch for this and either take 2 photos exposed for foreground and background or use RAW and use the RAW editor to create 2 images and then merge.

5. Move position to see if you can get a better position.

I have to add, you need more of the pond, more of looking into the pond or different and higher vantage point.
