If you had told me that it was a reflection in the background then I wouldn't have been at all suprised. I like the lighting and the black background that contrasts well with the sharp detail that you have captured on the pods. I particularly like the bottom tip, is it doctored?
Great shot. I like how even the little holes in it add to the "mood". The color is excellent and your focus is just dead on (mine is always soft so I prize it in others). It really does seem almost like I can reach out and touch it.

Rob, I used a Canon D60 with a 70-300 macro zoom and my flash pack. This was a seed pod hanging on a tree at the edge of a gator hole. The background was very bright actually. I have spent a lot of time learning how to black out any background, even in bright sunlight. And photoshop helps for that little extra push.
