    The PNW Daffodil Fields

Finally getting a little color here in the PNW. But still lots of rain and snow in the Mountains.
This is from the Skagit Valley about 1hr 15min north of Seattle. Not real sure about this one thinking there may be to much separation caused by the rows.

As always CC, Feedback on any area greatly appreciated
    Thanks for looking

    Re: The PNW Daffodil Fields

I love the subject of the picture. I am a bit distracted by the clear cut difference from the top to bottom. The clouds may have been this gray. I would have liked to see only the green foliage and yellow bloom of the daffs. leaving the ground gray also. Maybe crop a little off of the top to get the horizon a little more off center of the image. Got anymore of this shoot?? Would love to see a version standing up being able to see all the rows.

I rather like what looks something like a black and white sky with the bright yellow daffodils which are so clear and distinct. The centered horizon doesn't bother me a bit in this shot, I think its an excellent rendering of a beautiful area. Good work Ray--

We used to have some great fields in Sumner but now there are so many houses and businesses around its hard to get a good shot.
This is a much better shot than I've been able to get down here but I think the sky is overprocessed and I do wish the horizon wasn't centered.

I really like your angle. The centered horizon doesn't bother me. To me, this photo depicts the struggle between winter and spring all too common here in Oklahoma -- gray, cold skies or spring-time bliss -- sometimes all in the same day. We had six inches of snow on the weekend and sunny 50's and no snow on Monday!

Ray, really nice. I think losing a bit from the top only makes this stronger.

    Re: The PNW Daffodil Fields

I find the empty row distracting and I think the photo looks better with a crop from the top so the horizon line isn't centered.

But, it is still a great shot. The colors of the flowers really pop and you have a very dramatic sky (almost too dark).

    Nice job.

    Re: The PNW Daffodil Fields

Overall I love it but the huge difference in color and tone between the sky and the ground don't look real to me.

I am not sure how I feel about having the horizon in the center of the frame, how does it look with less sky?
    No, I DON'T need that.

Thanks everybody for looking and commenting. Looks like the sky is throwing most people it was right at day break and that is how the sky was. Here are a couple of different version. Even on the fence with these hoping to get out there Friday for another shoot.

    Thanks for looking and commenting

    I love it. I wouldn't change anything.

I also love the third image you posted. Very nice work!

    Re: The PNW Daffodil Fields

I love them all - including the first one, just the way it is. I really like the contrast between the sky and the flowers - very striking. And the centered horizon doesn't bother me at all.

What did you do in post?

    Re: The PNW Daffodil Fields

The cropped one looks a lot better to me. I think my problem in the first one was the dirt between the rows. With the cropped version it doesn't bother me at all. It looks like the saturation was tweaked up a few notches but is probably just due to having less sky in the picture. Great shots!!!!
