It took quite a while before I started looking around at why you would combine these items for a photo and look at the paper as more than a graphic element. Pretty subtle sense of something (humor? irony?).
Did you intend for the photo to have an overall warm yellow cast?
I think that, depending on ones experiences (or lack thereof), this image can be viewed as ironic, funny, or tragic. I like that. An image such as this requires one to examine it. To study it. It is not a "take a glimpse and use your first impression" image. Once again, I enjoy this approach.
I like this image because it has a potential story. I also thing the DOF is very good as well. I'm assuming a macro was used?
in contrast to your 'bear sets fire' post, this tells or suggests a story. it pulls you in after reading the headline and then realizing what may have happened with the candy and after that. nice!
this does have a warm tone just like your bear photos. are you trying for a warm tone or not? i wonder what this image would suggest if it was in cool colors (blue, green)? would it give a more troubled feeling which compliments the suggested story?
With these photos I actually wanted to say something. I wanted to create some discourse. The bear photo's were guff. They were fun at the time.
I photoshopped in a little warmth. Mainly 'cos the colour I got on my PhotoCD was pretty crappy. So brown and stale. The warmth just seemed to please my eyes more. I would agree colder colours might give a more troubled feeling. Although, chocolate is supposed to be appealing and therefore kinda adds to the irony, I suppose.
I shot it using my Pentax ME Super + Standard 50mm lense. I wish I had a macro lense but I'm skint and can't afford it atm.
