    Playing with light

Trying to get back into the swing of things. Here's a subtle lighting shot that I thought was cool. What do you think, and how would you have shot it?

i like the composition and the shot, the only thing i have an issue with is reflection of the white object and lack of detail on the knobs (which is without a doubt a lot better in higher res)

The composition is just fine. There are two things that could improve it though: one thing is the yellow cast - if you could correct the white balance a little, or at least adjust the white point with levels, it would do a lot of good I think. The other thing is the remnant of the strap at the bottom. It would be a lot cleaner I think if you reshot it without that there.

I like your image in general. I think it could be even better though, by

    - showing the entire guitar. The image ratio would be non-standard but no matter.
    - sharper and/or more depth-of-field

The color is nice and I like the overall density. I also really like the reflection in the bottom part.

OK, I wasn't going to comment on this but I can't help it. I really like the composition and the lighting. What bothers me is that the Marshall name appears to so perfectly balanced in the photo as to suggest its the subject, when in fact its the Les Paul. I think the image would be better without the name appearing. Make sense? Anyway, real nice image

Some good comments here already. I agree about the strap being a clutter here. the yellow cast might look better if corrected, but it seems to give a nice golden tone here. Worth experimenting with. The reflection in the body of the guitar is not desireable. Lighting is moody and nice as well as the framing. This is a good base, and some post processing skill can perfect this quite nicely.
