    Table For One

One from last week. Is there enough here to make it interesting for you?

The previous images I posted here did not go into my gallery. I had ticked the box to add image to gallery. I wonder if this one behaves. Does anyone know about these things.

    Many thanks
    Tom

I think its a nicely simple shot with a good b and w treatment. It looks like the chair is connected to the table though.

    Re: Table For One

I like the simplicity of this. Also very simple and effective. I'm undecided on whether you should've gotten lower to capture more of the flower and vase against the BG. I still like it against the table as is. My only nitpick here is the noise.

    Re: Table For One

Tom, I also like the simplicity here. I was feeling the same as Liban about a lower perspective to view more of the setting against the wall, the noise I'm not bothered by. Actually like the texture it brings.

I did just see your convo Tom and replied to you. By default, the box is checked and should enter your images to your gallery without any addtional checking. I mentioned the issues to the higher ups here and someone should be getting on it for you soon.

    Tom,

I was considering the lower angle as well. However, I think cropping about 1/2 the distance to the pots makes it a stronger composition as I think that it is too centred at the moment.

    Re: Table For One

Arne; the table stuck to the table, I like that but you are right.

Gary and Liban; yes I agree about the possibilities of the lower perspective and I'm sorry I did not consider that at the time. The noise was added by me Liban. The little table was set up in a dull old corridor and I did not want the 'perfection' of sharpness to interfere with the feel I got from the messy area; sorry I am not explaining this very well but I hope you get what I am trying to say.

Roger; I honestly wanted as much of the table's curve as possible to twin with the curve of the chair but I see where you are coming from.
Great to hear from you all and thanks very much.

    Re: Table For One

Tom a little lower could have helped but you would have also lost the angle on the flowers. I love the conversion and the "noise" looks like Trix film grain to me and is pleasing to me anyway. These newbies with there high end noisless cameras don't have a clue.LOL

    Re: Table For One

I like it; simplicity, table texture and combined shapes and nice curves. Good B&W. The only thing that I don't care for is the floor molding, the entire image is smooth with the exception of the molding. I don't think it adds to the capture. I'd crop it out.
    Overall, a very nice shot.

    Re: Table For One

I like it, good composition, and nice B&W

I think I would have also taken the shot from a lower point of view
also agree with Arne the chair appears as a handle of the table

    Re: Table For One

Greg; you're making a good noise

Thanks ED; I take your point concerning the skirting board. Actually I think you may be right.

    Thanks Grandpaw.

Armando, thank you and yes, it seems the lower view would have been king alright.

    Re: Table For One

First thoughts: I'd have taken away the skirting board, but not via a tighter crop. A shadow of the flower on the wall might have been interesting, with slightly stronger light from right to left.
    Shootme...

I almost missed your post Shootme.
Thanks very much for you observations and I agree about not cropping. Sometime I will clone out the skirting board.

    Re: Table For One

I'd agree with the other posters and say that I like the simplicity of this. However, the composition seems a little off to me. I'd consider either trying a lower angle or maybe just cropping it a little, just to get rid of some of the negative space.
