    A piston

I shot this in the morning with out to much thought, but I rather like it...
What are your thoughts? How can I improve it?

    Re: A piston

I have a soft spot for George Zimbel, so automatically this shot is good

I really like everything about this image. I am curious as to why you used a piston on top of a B&W magazine. I wouldn't normally associate them together. Not complaining, just curious as to how you put the idea together.

    Good photo

not a big fan of the big light reflection in the magazine. fix that and it would be great. although id like to know the tie between piston and magazine ( you said snapshotish so probbably none)

    Re: A piston

I really like the symbolism. It seems well thought out. the only thing I don't like is the light source being kind of mirrored on the magazine. Still an awesome picture though

Edit: However, I just read all the other posts on this thread, and I stand corrected on everything I said. haha

Except that I still think it's a great shot

Great exposure and tones. I like how the light on the magazine appears to be shining on the piston. It is something that makes the viewer look and think. Nice work. I think this is one of the best pictures you have posted.

    Re: A piston

Glad it shows for me now.
I don't know why others are confused about the piston. It makes a great subject for b/w and placing it with the magazine only points out the connection. The light is working for me just fine.
Best photo I've seen of yours.

    Re: A piston

@ Danic, Thank you for the comments. No doubt George Zimbel has done some amazing work, hence the reason I bought that magazine...As far as the piston on the mag, I wish I could say I planned it, but I was reading the magazine at the time I was shooting the image for another thread with a particular lens...Anyway, once it was on the mag, I liked the way the piston coating contrasted the aluminum and thought it would be a good contrast with the B$W magazine so I converted it to black and white...

@ Dylan, I believe the reflection u are looking at is the one that was already there. For me to remove it would be to alter the work of George Zimbel..

@ Photo Kap, Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it.

@Thanks Greg, A compliment from you is like winning an Oscar.. I appreciate it more than adjectives can describe.

@ Rick, Thank you so much. Yes, alloys are very difficult to shoot..I appreciate the kind words.

@ Frog, This compliment from you carries a ton of weight and I appreciate it the kind words very much Thank you.

Very nice, I love B&W, the piston comes up well. This is creative, for me becoming art (refer thread on photo's as art), who'd imagine that you can take a photo with MM and a piston and make it look good.
    Shootme...

Is there a picture with MM that doesn't look good?

Frog, you've got a point there. Deductive reasoning for an amateur like me - from now on I'm putting her in all my shots...Ha...

    Re: A piston

Nice shot my friend I would love to see another take again to take care of the two hard high lite on top of the piston where the oil ring and the compresion ring at. A spetacular high lite if you want to call that.

    Happy shooting JT,
