    Pipeline in color

    Hello everyone,

Following the comments I have received on the Pipeline in b&w that I have submitted last week, I decided to start from scratch and I post processed a different frame that was slightly underexposed. I must say that the colors that I have retrieved here have strictly nothing to do with my original attempt. I think that the contrast was enhanced as well.

    comments are welcome!

    Re: Pipeline in color

I really like the contrastiness of this shot. It adds depth and pops out the texture IMO. I think underexposing it was the way to go too because in the foreground the "ashes" or burnt out material isn't too bright as it is in your other shot. It still has a nice grey to it.

Composition is good and love the rusty pipes.

Seb - To me, this color shot is more interesting than the B&W. I do like black and white photography but feel that it's best with people, city, and very abstract photos (but there are always exceptions..). Here, you get more information, as the color of the bricks tells me how much usage this building has had. I still wish I could see more of the roof area, but that's for next time maybe.

    Seb,

Not sure about this - never saw the B&W version. I kinda like it but I think there is a better shot if you zoom into the oven and the pipes from the natural horizontal above the oven down to the bottom of the photo and using the natural vericals to fram it.

I find all the bits at the top distracting from what I think is the object which is the oven and the pipes.

    Re: Pipeline in color

Seb, I think this is stronger than the last. The colors are interesting, and the slight underexposure helps alot. It is still a bit brighter than ideal in the highlights, but strong. I like the area at the top, I like seeing the large pipe routing over the top. another for the series.

    Thanks folks,

Leels, I am glad to know that you think the exposure is good.

GB, I too prefer this color version over the b&w. For some reasons, I couldn't get satisfying colors with the other frame. I hear your concern about the upper part of the picture. Unfortunatelly, this is the only composition I have from these pipes.

    Roger, thanks for your suggestion.

    Gary, thanks as always.
