    Re: Pink

Alison - It's a neat shot, but all all things I think it has too much punch to it. Her eyes are soo dominating here! I sort of like the creativity of her fingers touching her cheeks and teeth, but it also changes it from a glamour shot to,... well - no idea. Also, her nose is a little too illuminated and is fading out a bit.

If you could reproduce this shot with a light scarf and a pink hat, I think it would be great ! Taking it outside on a cool evening and seeing some breath smoking up would be even better.

i think having both hands in the frame make it to crowded. i'd personally remove the left hand (photo right) and see how it looks. other wise i like it alot, i like the color warmth and the simplisity.

I will disagree with GB here. I don't think any photo can have "too much punch" to it. The eyes are the most important part of any portrait, so it is certainly appropriate that they be dominating and have punch. The position of the fingers gives some "character" to the model, but the right hand being closer to the light suffers from being "too white" in terms of skin colour. The face including the nose however is perfectly illuminated and appropriately de-emphasized, since the focus is on the eyes. The hair is also perfectly lit and sharp.

All in all, a beautiful shot that also gives some character to the model. Can't get much better than that in terms of goals and achievement in portraiture.

    Re: Pink

    Thank you all so much.
I was looking at her hand, as Ronnocco pointed out. I even said to Gina, "it's a shame you hadn't pulled your sleeve up to your fingers to match the other hand". But that's the trouble when a shot isn't planned. She was just off to the shop when I said to her "you look beautiful! Let me take a pic" LOL
So it was a quick snap in my kitchen.

I was also looking at the bottom part of her nose having no definition to the left of the pic as GB pointed out. I think that can easily be sorted out with a burn tool tho, so I am not too concerned about that.

I wish I could re-create this shot GB, trouble is, my pics NEVER turn out as good when trying to take them again.

It's really nice to hear what others think. Thank you all so much.
