    Pied-billed grebe

I came upon this little guy while out walking this afternoon. This one actually let me get pretty close to him. It rained this morning so there was a nice puddle of mud to lay in while taking this picture.

Good depth of Field and Composition here! Very Crisp Focus on your subject and the Out of Focus areas are interesting as well as the bits of green in the water. Good Job!

Sometimes rolling in the mud can produce very good results. This is one of those times. I like the DOF, saturation, composition and pose of the grebe. I might of tilted the crop (Is this cropped?) counterclockwise just a tad.

This is amazing!, for me (this is going to sound daft) the duck is portraying his personality.

5 stars from me!, very impressive. I agree about the rotate though.

I like the pic. It works for me although do see Bill's and JJ's point.

Thanks for the comments. I had actually rotated it before but maybe I had made it worse. Here is the original orientation. I really have very little room to crop on this image. Is this version better?

    Thanks,

    Re: Pied-billed grebe

Hi.. I like the original orientation, It seems to have not needed rotation. After you sharpened etc in the first post, the photo came out very good. It has a sharp focus, beautiful subtle specs of green and orange in the water, twinkle in his eye and soft fluffy feathers. I like the out of focus background and swirls in the water. Im not sure whether the reflection should or should not be more in focus. I guess the way it is. I find this photo a subtle yet arty vision of a duck in the wild. I can picture it in someones den. The den would have camel color leather couch and forrest green carpet.. you know what I mean lol. Typical ducky colors.
