    The Pick Axe

A co-worker told me the other day that I was "Pleasantly eccentric, in a good kind of way."
I guess that is why I carry a warning sign in the back of my truck. I bet people thought I was a little crazy setting this one up.LOL Any way, what do you think?

Be careful out there on the tracks.

I like it. Maybe a little boost in the colors and maybe a lower point of view.

It seems like some sort of stock photo, but I'm not sure for what...

I like it, you carried a bunch of stuff to the tracks ,
I'm guessing the camera is on a tripod ?

as Lava mentioned, a bit more color on the sky would be nice

I wonder why I'm always fascinated by the railroad tracks

I love it and agree with the stock photo comment. One wonders what happened to the owner of the boots and and Axe...

Not crazy, more like calculating, this is nice Greg but it looks like you lost a bit of sky detail getting the foreground right

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

Thanks all. I almost desaturated the sky but I didn't. Really what you see is what you get in that area. I will try and add a layer in the morning a bring the sky up a little.

I tried to saturate the sky. Is it any better, worse???

    Re: The Pick Axe

I like the sky in the original better -- but really there's not that much difference on my monitor. Saturating it causes it to pull from the foreground, imo.

    Re: The Pick Axe

Maybe I over cooked the saturation in the second one. I am on a different monitor and for here it looks like to much in the second one. Hmmm, As I wrote before I almost desaturated the first to make the sign pop some more. I guess I will work with it some more. Thanks Paula.

I like it, Greg. I'm not sure why that stuff would be on the tracks remaining there, but it leaves us wondering no less.
I think everything is fine in the original, but might suggest warming it up a bit. Everything looks very cool and with some blue/gray tones on my screen.
Nice set up, yep we sure get the crazy looks no doubt you got it with this one

Damn I love the color and the texture on the rails. And the tone in general too.

    Re: The Pick Axe

I like your creativity here, adding another element to a somewhat common, though worthy, subject. The image looks a little jagged to me, pixelated maybe - too much compression? Maybe the foreground is too artificially lightened (it takes a person whose done that to know!). I wonder what would have happened if a train came by right then ?

I find this shot pleasantly eccentric, in a good kind of way

I'm not sure if warming it is a good idea or not. I think the cool tones add to the feel of it a bit.

Great shot and creativity Greg. the only thing I would change is to turn down the blue a bit in the RGB adjustments. On my monitor the rocks have a slight blue cast. I love old RR tracks, great job on capturing it.

Thanks G, I could have over sharpened the resize for the web. I am trying to get use to the 12-60mm and I also have CS4 now. I'll get there.
Thanks Cara, Thanks Darin, I do see a slight blue cast in the clouds and gravel.
