I went snowshoeing at Mt. Baker and took a few photos here and there. Here are some of the best ones. The one mountain that is in a few shots is Shucksan and Baker is the one with the clouded peak. Click on the thumbnails for the larger versions of the panos. Let me know what you think. Enjoy.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy the photos. The bird is a Gray Jay, also known as a Camprobber because they dont mind people and are looking for food to eat. Oddly, this one seemed nervous of people, and it took me a while before I could actually get very close to it.
WOW, these are absolutely incredible photos. Just terrific. Starting from the top,the first bird photo is my favorite, I love the blue in the background. The mountain shots are spectacular. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed these.
Very nice series of photos. I'm still waiting for my first snowshow outing. I got some new shoes this winter, but no snow as of yet. It's been in the 40's-50's here.
Your 1st, 5th & 6th images look a little dark on my monitor. I think you could have added a bit of exposure to them, and still held the detail in the snow. The now will fool your cameras meeter into underexposing the image, so you have to add some exposure compensation. The snow in these three shots all apear kind of gray to me, and the extra exposure would help to make it look whiter.
The first and last pano are the same way, but adding extra exposure to them, would blow out the sky even more than it already is. A graduated ND filter would help in a situation like this. If you shot in RAW, you could double process the images to add a bit more exposure to the snow, and not the sky.
That being said, I still think these are very nice shots.
"I thought that because fewer wolves meant more deer, that no wolves would mean hunters' paradise. But after seeing the green fire die, I sensed that neither the wolf nor the mountain agreed with such a view."

Thanks for the tips. I dont shoot in snow all that often, so I really dont know much about it yet. Next time I go out I'll try to remember this, and see what I can do. I shot a few in RAW, but not these, as I dont have a program on my computer that will allow me to open them to edit. Also, if I were to make a pano out of RAW images, my computer probably wouldnt be able to handle the size of the combined files. I've had problems before like this. Thanks again.
