    Phone 343-2041

I've been wanting to shoot this for some time. Yesterday I got my chance. C & C appreciated. Sorry about that 'No parking' sign. I'm going to see if I can clone it out, unless you think it adds to the picture in some obscure way.

For someone who needed/was going to take a break, you sure are shooting a lot still ;) Hope you're having fun with it again.

This wall has a lot of character but, I can't help but feel it is just missing a little something. Might try cropping it in a little tighter on the phone number part. Or, I see there's some lights on the right... maybe try this as a night time shot with those floodlights on?

It's interesting alright. The faded text is neat, but, it's probably a little too faded cause I can barely make it out. The normal wall on the upper right is a tease. I might have zoomed in and only gotten the Phone text and meter on the left, and the white sign.

I had this one done first, but figured everyone would say " I'd like to see the whole thing". Little did I know.

of the 2, the cropped is my favorite. I think the scaled down version in this forum probably loses a lot of character. Nice shot..go with your instinct.

    Re: Phone 343-2041

I like the cropped/zoomed version better. The first one also has its merits but I prefer the one without so much negative space.

Nothing wrong with showing two different shots of a scene.

    Re: Phone 343-2041

John, I like the first (original) posted version too. I just find the tone,or white balance, to be off a bit. It seems too blue/cyan and could benefit from a little yellow added. It's an interesting wall and subject and I can see this looking much more impressive as a pirint (where more detail is rendered)
    Good work, John.

I like the first one. The composition is good. I have always liked pictures like this. But the picture does seem to but a little soft or maybe you forgot to sharpen it some. I like the inclusion of the light on the right hand side as well. I find the window /door? in the upper right a bit distracting. Over all well done.

I thought you were going through a dry spell.

Well it the first for me and I agree with Gary a little white balance on the no parking sign will make this better, looks a little blue to me.

This is the sort of photo that will never look good on the screen at this size but if printed at 10x8 plus then it comes into its own. No cloning please.

I picture a grungy Kate Moss (like the Vogue pic that sold for £6600 recently) to the right of the phone number.

Can you take a screwdriver to that parking sign, temporarily of course.
I think it does make a big difference and I'm not sure it would clone out.

Paul, I believe the owners and the local constabulary would most decidedly frown on my adjustment in the sake of asthetics. Nice idea though.

Then go back with a model, shoot it wide like the uncropped version and the heck with the sign.

Is Kate Moss busy this week?

    Re: Phone 343-2041

I took like the cropped one better. I think the larger would have worked better if the writing above it weren't so faded.

As for Kate Moss, she's probably available, but the "supplies" needed to keep her going would probably cost more than the picture would fetch. :-)
