I like the variety of trees in this. It's a pretty scene. But it looks a wee bit contrasty. And perhaps it simply has too much going on for the eye. My eyes keep wandering all over the place and if I try to settle on the pine tree, something is not allowing my eye to rest there. Maybe it's the tree behind the pine? I'm not sure.

I agree with D. I am looking for the focus of the picture and can't find one. Move in closer or out a lot farther and open up the wide angle.

    Thanks,

I plead guilty to oversaturating a tad. Composition hasn't always been my strong suit, and I constantly have to struggle to think about what I want out of a photo. I've been shooting baseball, where the action is the centerpiece. In the off-season this is an opportunity to expand my skills a bit. Thanks both of you.

Pretty much what other people have said, though if your looking for a nice place to start for composition, it looks like there is a post or something on the right that might be fun to shoot.

    Check it out,

    Swmdryfan,

The best you could do with the original pic, nice crop.

Yes, very nice variety of trees. I probably would have backed out a bit and gotten a little more space negative around them (if there was any), but still nice. There might be something missing with the shot - some color, a more graduated blue in the sky, etc. Would have really been nice with a deer in there somewhere -- too bad they're not very cooperative models!

I like GBs suggestions, but given that you don't have that to work with this time, I think you're crop is great!
