    pencil and guitar pick

    I just got my new camera, a Lumix FZ20, and i am loving it. Anyway here are some shots i took just to get a feel for macro, any tips would be great.

    Maybe its just me, but I think the first photo would look better without the lines and the second one without the bright spots.

    Those look like good shots for starting out. The wrinkles in the paper and the hot spots above the guitar pick don’t add much to the pic for me but maybe that’s just me. It is sort of tough to get a pencil or guitar pick sitting on a white paper to be a terribly interesting picture so I would suggest some extreme composition. I would suggest going out and finding something small with lots of fine detail and taking some shots of that, for me that is where the real beauty of macro really comes in.
