    Its a very nice shot... pretty darn good color... I think my only (very minor) complaint is that I would maybe have used a fill flash to bring up the details slightly on the pelican... its a mistake I constantly do also though... if you want to call it a mistake really...

    I like this shot a lot. I agree with Ross that a little more detail in the pelican would be nice, though I don't think the lack of it hurts the image. Well done

    thanks, this was with a 70-300mm around 50-70 feet so i'm not sure if the flash would have helped. would it?...

    Well... it may have.... or may not... it certainly would not have given you enough light to be a primary source... but it may have just added enough to raise the closer objects.... you were actually on the shorter end of your lens at 145mm also...
