    Couple of problems here. I'd recommend cropping out most of the right side. That bit of another player in the bottom right is distracting and there is just too much empty space on the right. I'm just guessing but I'd say you probably don't have much more space on the left too work with(in the original) otherwise you probably wouldn't have his stick right up to the frame.
    Exposure looks good; ice is nice and white.
    I find these shots work best with the aperture(2.8) you are using but at the long end of the zoom - tight shots that blur the background and focus primarily on the player and no extraneous elements creeping in.

    Thanks, Jon - that's the crop right out of the camera. No cropping at all. I'm not a fan of odd shaped photographs, so I just left it in a 2:3 ratio. I could probably crop a little tighter from the right, lose the extra fellow and keep the ratio.

    Yeah, you'll lose a bit off the top and bottom but it will tighten it up.
    It's a fast moving game so a lot of it is down to timing.
