    Pattern/Textures

I am a little unsure about this one. I want to put it in this series, but not sure about where/how it would fit. Comments welcome.

    Re: Pattern/Textures

Well, again...I really love the colors in this. Is it rust...? When I was first opening this, I thought it was lots and lots of marigold-type flowers, just out of focus...heh. You could do a comparison series on natural patterns/textures next to the patterns and textures of things like this one. Or with your bricks, find similar colors and patterns again in nature...know what I mean? That might be fun.

Dang, you're good, Emily. Can't fool you. It is indeed rust. Actually found it where I found the stones.

This rust would go well with the stone wall, similar shades of colour, totally different scale and subject.

Thanks, Paul. I think I may have done well for the first two in this series. Now to see if I can do some others just as well.

I love the colors. It's good to see patterns that aren't geometric patterns. I think this would be stronger if it was all in good focus.

Yeah, I think so, Chunk. I only really noticed that after I had the prints done. I did shoot it at a slight angle I think. Have to remember to do these shots straight on if possible.

I like this one a lot as well. If displaying this with the bricks, i would alternate a pattern between rust colored objects and more of the same colored bricks, or
do objects that are different in texture but similar in color.

    Great shot

(I agree with Chunk on the focus as well!)

Thanks, Becky. You give some interesting tips that I will have to look into. Now I really need to keep my eyes peeled out for opportunites.

possibly the effects nature has different objects (i.e., paint chipping from doors, things that are burned, etc...) I really like the picture...I can actually feel the rust from the picture if that makes any sense.

Thanks, Zack. That is what I am after with this series for shots like this. I like for my work to convey the feelings I had when taking the shot to those that see the finished product.

Beautiful. Too bad for the fade at the top. Maybe you can reshoot? remember that macros (if you used one) have a very shallow depth of field.

This might work nicely as a graphic arts background.

Thanks, GB. Actually I shot it with my 35-80 set at about 50. I didn't get it very straight on so I think that is what caused the focus problem. Hopefully I will get a chance to go back there soon.

I am hoping for something like that if I can find a buyer.

I agree - great as a graphic arts background if you can get back to reshoot in focus. On the other hand, the out of focus aspect is a little interesting ... seems like I can almost detect a slight warping around the edges which I like ...
