    On Patrol

Taken at the Korean War Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
I've tried to get this one right, but I'm not really sure if it works ok. I think the composition is there, and the framing too, but is everything else ok?

To me the composition is perfect and I love the bird. My only thought is that it is maybe a little dark and could be a little sharper.

I think you should clone a few distractions, the people, bird and maybe the chain and post. I think everything else works.

    Re: On Patrol

Ok, I played some, cloned out the fence, the bird, and the people. Lightened the image somewhat and tried to sharpen it some.

    Re: On Patrol

O.k. thanks for allowing me to edit this wonderful picture.

    Here's my idea:

    Here's what I've done

1- I've used remove color tool to transform it into a B&W

2- I've used the dodge tool in photoshop in the top half of the picture to bring out a bit of brightness to the trees.

3- I've used the burn tool in photoshop to darken the statues of the soldiers and give a bit more detail.

4- I've added noise with photoshop.

That's pretty much it, try it yourself using your own taste, if you like it.

    All the best

    Tony

Nice job, Tony. It does add sort of a 60's magazine flavor.

    Re: On Patrol

John I really like the second version with the bird and people gone. I perfer the color version because of the richness of the greens and the way the the dark background makes the figures come alive. Very nice job.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??
