    Passing Storm

Here's a few shots I took at sunrise after a storm had passed a few weeks ago. Was having a hard time shooting into the sun. Played around a lot with aperture and shutter settings. Couldn't quite get exactly what I had in mind and the sun kept deforming in the shots. Does the sun ruin it?

I don't think the sun ruins that first shot...has sort of a sci-fi look but the green spot does.
The third I like except the sun being chopped. Almost looks like something you'd see in stained glass at a church.

I agree with Frog, #2 is just to dark. I like #1 the placememnt of the sun is good and the star effect helps it hold intrest for me. I would take out the one big flare though,

    Re: Passing Storm

Personally I like #2 the best (I think they are all a good subject) but what I do no like about #2 is how the clouds are centered. I woul crop it a bit and take some of the boring sky out from above teh clouds and bring the cloud line up to the top third area. #2 could also do with either a shadows/highlights adjustment or a simply exposure adjustment.

    Re: Passing Storm

I definitely like #2 much better now. The extra sky being removed makes the sky all that much more dramatic.

#3 is definitely an interesting shot now. You could not see the person in the shot before but now you can... but the parabolis around the sun gives it an alien feel to the image. I like it... but it is a weird effect.

    Re: Passing Storm

#1 and #2 are nice shots, colors, the sky... but Iike the second submittal of #1 the best. Kind of stark as photos go, what is the subject, but the sun, shore and water come together nicely. Nice to look at.

The sequence is not right. In the first series, the second photo looks exactly like the first but darker.

Yeah, they should all look somewhat similar. This is my first "real" camera and this was I think the same week I got it. So a lot of the photos are just experimenting with different combinations of shutter speed/aperture/ISO settings :blush2:
