Palouse Falls (no barns this time)

The Palouse River drops about 200 feet over these falls that are in the middle of nowhere...

No Barns!! I love your barn shots.

Nice pics here. I like the 2nd one the most. The hard shadows in all shots is bothering me.

You're telling me...I waited all day for the sun to cooperate, but this early in the year, the sun doesn't get high enough to eliminate the shadows in the coulee. And the falls are oriented in such a way that if you shoot early in the day, you're facing right into the sun...I'm definitely going to go back in a couple of months and see if I can get better results. But today was more of a scouting mission than anything.

I really like all of these photos - the first one is my favorite. I really enjoy how you can see the water flowing out from between the rocks. Being able to see the entire waterfall and the surrounding landscape, makes the pic for me - but I do have to agree with Leels on the shadows. If the shadows weren't there, the pics would be even better. But in the same sense, the shadows give you a feel for the time of day (late afternoon?). Keep up the good work!

Wow what a great area to shoot. To know that you can go back and reshoot those scenes once the sun is up higher is great. I would love to see the reshoot of those. With the pics you have, the shadows are overwhelming, but I do love the second one, as it shows everything very nicely.

    Good shot,

    Jared
