    For A Pal

Outside the Air Zoo where I volunteer my time, there is a statue called 'For A Pal'. Today I got a few shots, but as you can see, there was no sun, no blue sky. I concentrated on closeups, as the building behind prevents full length shots of the statue. I'm hoping to do more with better weather.

I think the gray sky adds to the somber mood.

    Re: For A Pal

John, I like the approach you took in both of these shots. Framed up very well and the points of view in both of these are quite effective. I think having skies with some cloud definition and effect will help these. The bottom shot does have some sky and clouds visible, and by selecting the sky (which would be quite simple to do in this picture) you could bring out the clouds and darken it some. Same with the top shot, although you would have to be a little more creative as there is no detail to work with.
Great approach and exposure of the statue.

Just someone that loves to take pictures, The first one holds my attention. Even though
it doesn't have any sky in the background.

    Per Gary's suggestion.......
This one's still not perfect, as I used the colorize brush, so it may not be just right....yet.

This one I selected the sky and boosted saturation.

I really like your approach on this one too John. On the 2nd one I would suggest making a curves adjustment as well as saturation. It will change the contrast and bring out more of the hidden detail.

Thanks Jay.....the software on this machine is Microsoft Digital Image Pro 9 (Win98), and there are no curves adjustment feature, but I think by playing with saturation and contrast, I can do that.
