    Owl

    Hello again,

What do you think of this one? I dont normally photograph birds and i dont have the gear for it. This is not in the wild, but i think it turned out quite nice.

    Re: Owl

You are right - it DID turn out nice. The owl looking at you is crucial - there is an 'engagement' between the bird and the viewer. Also, you got all the detail in the feathers around the head (I wish I had a penny for every bird pic I have seen with the light feathers burned out!) I also like the way you have resisted the temptation to crop too tightly - wild creatures I think are often best with a little 'space' to breathe.

    Good stuff!

Agreed! Very nice image and I love the crop and angle. I think the only thing that bothers me is the heavy shadow over the right eye. Can you bring out some detail in that?

All the stuff Mike and Adamo said but I'd like more space at bottom even if it is heavily shadowed.

I think it's great. Nice composition also. Maybe pulling out a little bit of the details in the eye might help. Other than the it's very good.
