    Overworked

Maybe I should concentrate more on the straight shots. Here is the relatively unprocessed original.

This one has a tone mapping layer and a lot more saturation manipulation.

Realistically the first one is better whatever the merits of the shot itself.

    Re: Overworked

Interestingly, blasting my face with a straight on shot with a honeycomb grid gives some of that grunge and intensity I like from tone mapping. The light on my hand is mostly diffused from a silver umbrella, and it is, as you would expect, smoother looking...

Myself I really like the original version more. It's actually very good.

The processed version makes it look like the right side of your face is bruised.
Just my thoughts tho my friend.

Hah, I just realized this pose looks a lot like Robs Avatar pose.

    Re: Overworked

I like both versions, but it's imperitive in this type of shot to pay attention to the details. In the background there are a bunch of distractions that don't need to be there - the crumpled garment on the chair to the right, and the clutter on the windowsill/cabinet to the left. The pose is great though, and the anxiety shows through well.

    Re: Overworked

aaah there it is...that feeling in your pics.

As striking as the pose is, I find myself looking at whatever that is in the chair.

I love the colours in the first one and I really like that lamp to the right. It adds something to the picture (I am not very articulate today, forgive me).

The second one doesn't appeal to me. The cropping on the left is too close and the tone is too flat and grey. Almost feels as if you were trying to swipe from the left grey to the right colour (which is a cool idea...hmmmm) .

All opinions expressed by this person are purely that, opinions which means she doesn't actually know anything about photography.

I really hope you have a sense of humor....I am learning something. Like fill flash for flowers outdoors, bouncing lights, no strobes, fast shutter speeds with falling water. I like the First shot above... nice to meet you!

I always enjoy your self-portraits, daq. Like Gary, you are a great model.

Love the first version; don't care for the second.

    Is that your house, btw?
