Outside the brickworks no.3

Here is something different. It was shot arround 8:30 am in early november. One single frame handheld. It took a contrast mask and significant dodging to retrieve some details on the wall and the floor. Comments are welcome!

I love the way the rails lead me to the colours through the door.

My only critique is that the picture needs a bit of cropping on the left to get rid of the vertical pole and above the door way to get rid of the window. I find these 2 items very distracting.

Also I don't think the black frame works with this photo.

While technially I really like this image, it doesn't impact me as much as the others. I was wondering why and I realized that with the other images, there was no "way out". So a certain amount of tension was inherent in viewing them. On this one, the fear factor has been removed and I realize that part of the reason I enjoyed the others so much was that degree of anxiety (conscious or not) that they evoked.

Roger, I overlooked the visual impact of the pole at the left. I'll crop it. I am not too sure about getting rid of the top window, wouldn't the picture become too simplistic if it was only about the main door? I am asking myself the question. I gotta think about it.

Dbutler: Thanks for your very sharp observation. I think that you nailed it. However this picture is so different from the rest that it doesn't quite belong to the series in my mind. I could have named that picture differently. It's been shoot in the same locations as the others but that's pretty much all they share in common.

Now that I look at this again I'm not sure about getting rid of the window either.

hhmmm. I'm not sure about putting a critque on this one, as I really can't say what would be right or wrong to improve. I can tell you that this image does not hold my attention, or impact me very much. I do find the rails in the fg to be the strength of the shot, but after that I do not see enough of the interior to keep me entertained, and not enough depth to the outside from the square opening.

Roger: Coming back at this picture after few days, I figured out that I would keep the top window. I think that the picture is more interesting that way.

Gary: I see your point. I had an idea in mind but I realize that I don't have the post processing skills to make it. Perhaps the lighting and the disposition of the place as a whole were innapropriate as well.

Thanks for your help guys. I'll rank that picture as a "learning experience"... lol
