    Out Walking

Hope I get this right but this is my first post to this site.

Would like feedback on this picture. It was taken from the car in a morning traffic queue on the way to work. Unfortunately could not move forward enough to get better framing of the bench. The information captured by the camera are as follows.

This is a nice peaceful scene - I like the muted colors. Part of its strength is having that nice, welcoming bench barricaded by the unfriendly barbed wire. I think I'd crop off about 2/3 of the featureless sky to move the horizon off the centerline of the frame

I also love the colours in this shot, and the 'tension' between the restfullness of the scene, the inviting bench, and the barbed wire that seems to keep the viewer out. For me that gives it added interest. The only slight difference I would like to have seen is to not have the figure's head cut though by the barbed wire, it would have been nice if he was framed (or 'trapped') by the wire., but that really is nit picking!

Thanks for the responses - Couldn't get the camera low enough to get the chaps head in, Car door frame got in the way and it was a rushed shot.

I have cropped the picture is this what you mean?

    Re: Out Walking

This is a pretty good pic for a hurried shot! I would also crop the sky and maybe close out the headless figure (I didn't notice it before someone else mentioned it, so it really does not add anything to the pic). It is really a pity that the poles are merging with the bench. But sometime there is just nothing you can do....

Don't you love foggy days? They are the best!

Congrats for having seized this great opportunity!

    Cheers,

    Steph.

Mmmmmm nice photo, I like it. Pastel instead of over-saturated PS editing

I looked at the sky on the way into Reading this morning and wished I had my camera
I like it more cropped, there was just too much sky.
Once you get beyond that lovely pastel shade of the sunrise - which is what I made it so special with the mist - the sky is uninteresting.

Nice to see another UK face here - and one so close to me, too !

    Hi Paul,

I was wondering if there were some Brits on this site. It seems to be an excellent site.

I don't have Photoshop only Photoshop Elements. The only thing I used it for was to crop the image - well the second picture anyway. The first was cropped a little. The colours are straight out of the camera.

I tried to print it last night and the HP DeskJet 950C printed a very blue grey picture. Anyone know how to correct the colours on the printer. All other photos seem to print as seen on the monitor.

Well I'm not so surprised at that, on my monitor that's how it looks on the grass.
Are you using a LCD or CRT monitor?

LCD and CRT and both look okay - colour corrected using Praxisoft WiziWYG XP

The printer prints really Blue tried to correct it and not much luck so far.
