    Out in the Rain

Hi all .. a little bit of photo art which, despite the image, was done on a very nice day in the sunshine.

As always, any comments are appreciated.

    Cheers

This artifical rain effect (is that what you call it?) gives the photo the appearance of a painting, which is nice enough in its own right, but it never really looks like rain to me.

    Re: Out in the Rain

I have looked at this several times and I think I have fiqured out what is buggin' me. The composition and technique are fine but the gentelman just doesn't look like he has been out in the rain. Lightly wet his hair a little and maybe his clothes and the umbrella. The sunlight doesn't hurt the shot for me because it has rained with the sun out before. Or maybe it has just quit raining and the sun is out. I am also not a big fan of the style of umbrella, maybe something a bit more plain. Am I wrong?

    Re: Out in the Rain

Thanks guys - I do appreciate it isn't to everyone's taste. However, in my defence it was meant to be photo art, so th eimpressionistic feel is deliberate on my part.

Greg - I know what you mean and what you say has a lot of merit. He just didn't look wet enough! (although I did get him to soak his hair). As he is at work, I can't do a reshoot, but I have done a newer version which, to me, looks a little better. Basically I have lightened the doorframe and darkened (with levels) the image in the window.

We'll get there in the end!

    Cheers
