Daq, I can't find anything that grabs my interest on this one. For some reason I want to see more of the wine glass and the food in the very front of the pic is distracting to me. I like the window lighting and the color is good and true.

Yeah those are all fair complaints. I like the richness of the colors mostly, but there are a lot of other flaws.

    Daq -

I actually find this a very good scene for a fine, maybe French cuisine type image. Unfortunately, the composition has a few issues, and hate to say it, the technical execution just isn't up to snuff like I've seen you do before. Some of the issues I have here:

    - Is the food not important? By blurring it I would assume so, but I want to see it more than the salsa or whatever that is.
    - As Ridgetop noted, the wine glass cut as it is here isn't the best. (A note on that: I have seen objects cut exactly in half and have been intrigued by that, especially faces, but the angle has to be straight on for that to work, I think.)
    - The stain on the tablecloth makes the scene look a bit sloppy.
    - It seems like the camera should have been a little farther over to the right.

The background being blurred is OK by me, and I like how it fades into darkness.

Hope this isn't too critical, but I do see a lot of good stuff here. I think maybe a different idea of what you were trying to capture, then capturing it, would be good. Maybe more of a creation than just grabbing what's here would be best in this situation.

nah, not too critical say what you mean. I am only recovering on how to do this since my master flash controller got fixed. I am always self-conscious about flash in good restaurants, but since I am willing to do it I need to think about how to do it right.
