    Original Sin (Layers)

    Hi all

I have been playing with layered images. This is part of a series using religious symbolism. It is called 'Original Sin'. What do you think?

    Cheers

    Mike,

The composition of all the items is really well placed and the layers really work well together especially the colours. Nice work.

You do this type of stuff so well Mike and this is no exception.
While not really understanding the symbolism etc, the end result is very effective. Is it much the same type of treatment that you used for the Seven Deadly Sins?

I really like how you have laid this one out. The apple just looks so tempting.

How does it look if you tone done the highlights on the chin, nose and upper cheek?

    Thanks everyone

TracerNH - I have in fact done exactly that for the print version.

Tom - yes, very much the same kind of treatment as the Seven Deadly Sins series - just slightly more sophisticated in the execution of it.

If anyone is curious, the deep layer was a stone wall I photographed in ancient Troy (in modern day Turkey) - I wanted something old, and mythical. The bust (and reflection) is ancient Greek, and was photographed in the British Museum. If eyes are the gateway to the soul, then the empty eyes signify an emptiness of spirit. The red splotches are paint stains - they signify violence. And the apple of course is the well-known symbol for original sin.

    Cheers
