    Opposites

I saw this and was reminded of wolves stalking their prey. Any thoughts on this? What works? What doesn't?

I welcome any and all feedback, positive or negative.

    Thanks,

    PC

It all works well for me. Reminded of that old film Waterworld a bit. I like your thinking behind it and it makes for a v.good photograph.

It works for me too. The only thing that bugs me a bit is the hazy skies. I can imagine this in crisp sunset colours. Reminds of those 'success' poster pics.
    nicely done.

    Re: Opposites

Liban, I appreciate the comments. I'm not as happy with the sky as I could be, but I'm not sure what I can do to change it.

I hadn't really thought of the posters, but I guess now that you mention it, it might. Although I would be more inclined toward the satirical side of those posters rather than the serious "success" ones. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    PC

I'm thinking graduated ND filter! The sky is too blown out for close comfort.

    Re: Opposites

Another great shot! I had to chuckle because I thought the exact same thing when I saw it and then I read your post.

I see a little bit of noise but that's no biggie. If I were going to do anything to the shot it would only be to clone out some of the little... nits.... such as the mooring buoys and the boat way off in the background to the left and I'd only do it to make the sailboat seem more alone.

I think your composition is spot on and the colors are working well too. I also like how the mast is sticks up into the mountains in the background so that the shot has even more depth.

i like the picture and the lay out of it, the only thing I see that bothers me is the noise..Was it dark or getting dark? What was the ISO setting?
What type of camera did u use?
All in all a good pic..

    Re: Opposites

Just when I thought this was moving below the radar...

Thanks for the comments! I agree on the noise. I should probably run some noise software over it to see what I can do. Likewise for the "nits"

fx101 - you are correct that a graduated ND would be helpful. I've been looking at those a little here and there, but hadn't decided to get one yet. Any recommendations?

jgredline - This was taken just after sunset with a Canon Rebel XT at ISO 100, 1/4s exposure. The only real processing has been with Picasa and Paint.net so I may have to pull it into PS to see if I can address some of the issues mentioned already.

    Thanks again.
