    opinions on the filter/effect

I've been playing with a few photos of my parents' dog to put on a small canvas before (or after) she kicks the bucket (not to sound insensitive...she is almost 19). Anyway, this was run through topaz's clean filter...one of the view that doesn't seem to be a cheap version of a better one...and quite unique. I'm guessing this will have a love it or hate it response.

    p.s. dad took the photo

It's different. I can see it looks like a dog

It's all up to you to tell if the effect gives you what you want to show.

Yes, it does look like he was brushed with a wet toothbrush! It also looks like it could have been a painting and so it does not look bad. I'd like to see what it looked like before to make the comparison.

Looks very nice in its original form. Just a bit of sharpening needed. Did you sharpen the image as well after running it through the clean up? The sharpening looks like it was done with a very high radius setting which makes the fur look like it was combed with a course comb.
The effect actually looks fine on the neck and ears but not so good around the eyes and side of face.
Beautiful shot anyway even in its original form.

Nope, no sharpening other than what the effect does. I'm sure I did some color correction, but that's probably it. I can't take credit for the photo though.

Does the effect have a sharpening setting involved with it? Just wondering because it did a very nice job cleaning up the noise but there was def some agressive sharpening as well...
or high pass filter under the hood....
