Re: opinions on a dirty wall

I was a bit miffed at first looking because the title had me thinking this was going to be a wall full of opinions such as writing or statements carved into a wall. But it seems you are asking for "our opinions" on this image of a dirty wall. ok
I think there is not enough interesting elements ( such as texture, dirt, rust on the pipe, algea . . etc.) to make it a good subject. But I think it could have been more interesting than it is now had you focused more on the dirt in the left portion of the frame ( the main dirty area) and even better, wait for a bit of light to touch some of this wall as that would open up lots of new visual interest. From the hint of the green on the bottom right portion of the frame I take it this is outside?

I can only agree with what Gary said. It seems to me that the scene is too dreary and that the lighting is too flat for this picture to really hold my interest. On an happier note, you had the gut to think out of the box and to try something different. While I must say that it doens't work in this specific situation, this attitude will lead to fine discoveries, sooner or later.

There is just nothing to it. I'm sorry. What you need to do in such a case as this is find an interesting feature of the wall and highlight that. Try shooting from a slightly less obtuse angle and going lighter. This is just to dark for a picture with no real mood to begin with. The sad truth is though, that most walls are just uninteresting.
