    Re: Open Mic

Yeah, I'd like to see some cropping as well. But, yes, so much better than the first round.
Something to play with might be to accentuate the empty chair just left of the subject, which a simple cropping might be able to accomplish.

I agree with the others, fantastic lighting in the focus on her, but the dead space is too much.

    Re: Open Mic

Thanks guys. I was kind of struggled on cropping or not cropping. I left it as is because I thought the dead space gave it more of the feeling of being alone on the stage. I will try a crop and see how it works out.

    Thanks.

    Re: Open Mic

I actually like the dead space, maybe crop it in just a little bit. But not much, maybe halfway between the edge and the left most green light. The speckles of light around her fill the dead space, makes it very cool.

    Re: Open Mic

I actually like some dead space, too. Separates this from other performance shots. People usually get in close.

I might crop right up to the lamp on the left and keep the same proportions.

I definitley get the impression of being the solo performer, but I think you could stand to loose the strictly black areas.

    Re: Open Mic

Yeah, I really like this. I think you should try a much closer crop as well just for a different experience. The vast dark spaces do work though...

Here is a crop I did. How does this work? I tried to crop out as close to the lights on the right while trying to keep a bit of that space. I didn't like how it looked with a tight crop right out side the lights on each end.

    Re: Open Mic

I really liked the first version but when you cropped it I liked it even more. You still have the feeling that the artist is alone.

    Great job!

The cropped version is so much better. The isolation really makes this shot. And I think its ok that its centered.

    Re: Open Mic

I think you could crop it even more. The singer on the right side of the frame and the lamp on the left.

    Re: Open Mic

I like the crop - vast improvement.

But I agree you might try cropping a little more still. To the green lamp thing on the left and and the singer on the right.

Nooooo, dooont do it! hehe. Well, anyway, I like the crop as is and wouldn't want it cropped any more, so I'm going to disagree with dray and greg here now. :P sorry guys
