    And one more for today?

Please give me all of your thoughts, and observations.

These are not the highest resolution.

I'd like critiques from both sides of the camera. A photographer's point of view, and what you would like to see if the picture was of you (or your child) and you'd paid to have these taken. My ultimate goal is to improve my technique and style, and be the best that I can be.

    Your help is appreciated!

Re: And one more for today?

    Mindikollphotos,

Hmm. I like the idea, but it doesn't quite work out perfectly for a few reasons.

Things seem a tad haphazard. I ask myself why she would lean a mirror against that window like that, and I don't know about what looks like a fireplace frame (mantle?) on the left being cut as it is. Her expression is sort of bewildered, almost frowning. I do like her tan color and the tree in the reflection Her right leg is also blocking the reflection a bit, not to mention the tree. Finally, the cold floor looks chilly to sit on, especially in the wintertime around Xmas (unless she lives Down Under). It makes me uncomfortable seeing her sitting there uncomfortably.

So, seems like the photo has a lot of nice elements, but they're not arranged all that well. Try planning the photo out more and paying closer attention to the little details I've mentioned. Not that I'm an expert or even very good at model photography, but getting all these things right can really make a difference in the final product.

I looked, left, then looked again. Couldn't quite decide what to say to you, but GB1 summed it up pretty well.

Certain aspects I liked, but some things were bothersome. The blind askew and the bright green thing reflecting in the mirror also bother me in addition to the list by GB1.

On the positive side, your model is attractive, and the basic idea is intriguing. What if you gave her something soft to sit on, put ribbon or a bow on the mirror to give it a reason for sitting on the floor with her and have her engaged in wrapping a present as her reason for sitting there. As prominent a reflection of the tree as you could get may develop the theme and help tie all the elements together IMO.

Put the poor woman on a rug. lol Soften the lighting and focus on the mirror. Her expression doesn't bother me, but I too wonder why a mirror is propped against the wall in this manner.
She's a natural model not afraid of the camera at all, but you might exeriment with some different expressions. The thong really ads something to the shot, and her legs are beautiful. I like the positioning and comp. and the way you shoot just enough skin to be artful. But in a shot like this, her expression is everything. While you're shooting, talk to her about things that prompt different emotions and snap the shutter the instant they register on her face. Not the second they do, but the instant. Become a director.

Re: And one more for today?

As the others have already stated, this shot is screaming for a white sheepskin rug. Further, there is way too much going on in the background of the mirror's reflection, and geometrically around the mirror. I'm not as concerned with the mirror leaning up against the window frame as everyone else, I understand you're using the light for fill on the model's face, but I would fix the single fin on the window shade that's out of whack, and a medium to large red bow would go a long way toward obscuring the unwanted background items and giving the mirror a sense of purpose. I'm also pretty happy with the pose, and although the right leg covers part of the reflection, you did very well to situate it to obscure the reflection of the left, which would have surely revealed itself as a "stump" or "pegleg" when reflected. Lighting is near perfect, but just a touch overexposed as the collar is blown out, ever so slightly (white clothing is REALLY unforgiving in this regard).

Ron also gave some great advice about becoming the director, the model can't see what you are seeing, so you have to instruct her and give lots of positive reinforcement.

Overall it's pretty good, better than most, but not fantastic.

Re: And one more for today?

lol Thanks so much everybody for your comments. I'm home by myself much of the day and so have begun experimenting with lighting and placement. F.Y.I. - I am not a model and these photographs are of me. =) So in some regard it makes it difficult to direct and talk to myself while taking a picture with a remote. I can't see myself through the camera lens. =)
