im wanting to send my photos into a "photo of the day" contest, wondering which of the 3 you think would have the most success. also - critique too please!

and no - i didnt add the hydrant in there - it was naturally there!!! At the salt lake actually (antelope island), right across from the restrooms and the beach. and the semi (naturally) wasnt planned either, getting a picture of the wind fields in a moving vehicle!

I like the vertical fireplug picture - great sky. The horizontal has too much plain sky and the cloud is too centered.

I'm not wild about the grayed out foreground, I think the strong colors in the sky and hydrant would probably still carry the picture with original colors. Another thing you could try would be having the foreground be a duotone in a complementary (to the blue sky) orange or gold.

yes i totally thought the same thing - i didnt even realize it when i shot the picture, wish i could go back and shoot again ;).

I think the full color shots are stronger. I just love the pull between the two subjects in this shot.
