Excellent. I'm guessing there was more sky in the original?

    Re: A Once Palouse Barn

The point of the roof I think is too close to the skyline.
I don't think you could have taken a step ladder out with you to get a different viewpoint
But if this was shot with a tripod maybe raising the centre column so high you can't see through the camera might have been enough to put the roofline lower below the horizon.

Looks like HDR, I don't like the skyline light halo. But that's just personal dislike of overdone HDR. Same people like it.

    Hmm.

I love the subject and the background. The colors all work too. Somehow though, the lighting on the house seems to bright, probably due to oversharpening, which causes what appears to be reflective, glowing areas on the barn. Was it so soft that this was needed? Also, I thnk I would have left more space above the barn.. More sky that is.

Thanks for looking and commenting actually the image wasn't soft at all I've been playing around with some glow techniques and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
Attached is rework but as one can see the sky as some faults

Oh thank you. I miss the Palouse so much. Spent 4 years in prison at WSU, wish I never had left. I did not have a camera over there but the memory of the views will last a lifetime. So many photo ops out there.

I like the softer color in the second.
The point of the roof is a bit of a problem.
Paul would like it lower but I think it might work better higher than the horizon.
If you are gooder at cloning than I, maybe you could bring the sky lower by cloning or even the hill higher. I'm completely unsure if this is possible but I'd try it if it were mine.
That old hay wagon is a subject all by itself.

I like them both. Love the strength of the color and composition more in the uncropped.
