    Old School Reworked in PS

I reworked this in PS. The original was very noisy. I layered this about four times each time changing the pixel size of the picture by one. I think that this took some of the "noise" out of it. I also lassoed the window and darkened it some. It is still noisy but I think it is much better. I got the layering idea from you Seb. Do you think it worked? And thanks. I also left it in color and uncropped. I also clone stamped a few areas..

I would say that you did well with what you had. Obviously, it is still noisy and low contrast but it's an enhancement over the first version.

Thanks Seb, I can easily reshoot this it's just a short drive from my house. I was just practicing in PS. I think I just got my exposure off on this one and the lab overworked it and it made it to noisy. Thanks for your help....

It went from noisy to pixelated. If I had to choose between noise and pixels, I'd choose noise 100% of the time.

Gool luck with the reshoot Greg.

Thanks Leels, I have always seem to have this problem. Even with my best exposed pictures I have some slight grain or pixal problem I am not pleased with. Even if I scan the negatives or the lab does, I just don't get the clarity I am looking for. Is there a secret I don't know? Or is going from negative to computer just something that don't work good? Help someone??????

Greg, I would use an auxiliary flash and under-expose it, to add just a little detail to some of the black areas in the foreground.

Thanks Ron. I shot this through a glass pane. If I can get access to the inside I will try the flash.

Could it be your ISO Greg? Do you remember what ISO you shot this at? The higher the ISO the more likely you'll get noise.

Try experimenting with the flash right against the glass pane, on and/or off camera!
